Behold the Manger!

Behold the Manger!
With grateful hearts draw nigh
To gaze upon the Holy Child
Who left His Home on high -
From Glory to obscurity,
For you and I!

Behold the Manger!
With reverence see One
Now swaddled in mortality,
Yet still God's only Son;
His plan for our salvation
Was there begun.

Behold the Manger!
In penitence come see
This One who lived a perfect life,
Yet died upon the Tree
To purchase God's forgiveness
For you and me.

Behold the Manger!
But see the Babe within;
We worship not the symbol –
‘Tis Christ forgives our sin;
His blood was shed on Calvary
Our life to win.

Behold the Manger!
Make Jesus Christ your own.
Bow low in adoration,
And crown Him King alone;
No longer in the Manger,
But on the Throne!

Behold the Manger!
Bring gifts to Him with love;
For hearts and lives surrendered
True thankfulness will prove
Until with joy we see Him
In Heaven above.
