Christmas Light

Still gleaming through the ages,
As years of history roll,
Bringing joy and gladness
To each believing soul,
The love of God Eternal,
Shining warm and bright,
Is revealed in all its glory
By that Holy Christmas Light.

That Light made its appearance
One Night in Bethlehem,
When Jesus, Son of Heaven
Came down to dwell with men;
Piercing through the darkness
Of ignorance and sin;
And wherever He is welcomed
He brings Life and Light within.

We praise You, God our Father,
For that first Christmas Night;
For such a demonstration
Of Your sacrificial Might.
We thank you that our Saviour
His redeeming Love did show,
And that this Flame unquenchable
Eternally will glow.

We need illuminating!
O come, blest Light Divine!
Reach all the dim recesses
Of each needy heart and mind.
Then send us forth a-glowing,
To reflect Your Loving beams,
Until the Light of Christmas
In every corner gleams.
