Christmas Today
That Christmas in BethlehemWhen Christ was born among men,
Shepherds heard in the night
Angelic messengers bright;
In a stable they saw
And worshipped with awe
That First Christmas Day.
And down through the years
As the season appears,
In many different ways
Folk celebrate and praise
By custom tried and true
And hearts are blessed anew
On each Christmas Day.
This year again we sing
Glad carols to our King.
Gifts we gladly share
With loved ones everywhere.
Greetings we send
To relative and friend
For their Christmas Day.
But what does Christmas mean?
Is it only what has been?
No, it's not just history –
Christ lives and dwells with me.
True happiness I feel
Because my Lord is real
Upon this Christmas day.
It was not always so,
When Christ I did not know
The season was a chore,
Always trying to do more.
But Christmas now-a-days
Is a time of joy and praise –
CHRIST is CHRISTMAS TODAY!
