Good News!

The world with violence was torn
When Christ, the Prince of Peace, was born.
Corruption reigned on every hand;
Fear of destruction stalked the land;
But messengers from God on High,
Their presence lighting up the sky,
Announced for all the world to hear –
"Good New, Your Saviour, Christ, is here!"

Christ did not stay in Bethlehem,
But ministered and taught twelve men
About His Father's love so wide;
Then for us all was crucified.
The Manger Child could never save;
But He, by rising from the grave
Declared the Greatest News – "Believe –
Eternal Life you shall receive!"

To weary ones He offered rest,
The troubled with His peace were blest;
Weak souls with courage He imbued;
The sick with health again endued;
He comforted the lone and sad,
And made the burdened spirit glad.
A glow of Hope He truly brought
To each one who this Good News sought.

Throughout His life He did proclaim
Salvation in God's Holy Name;
Forgiveness for repented sin;
His Spirit's life to dwell within,
To give release from lives of shame,
And Victory in Jesus' Name.
Thus all who from their sin are freed
Can say "This is God News indeed!"

We need Good News these troubled days.
The wayward go their selfish ways,
And families disintegrate;
The world is in a sorry state;
Nations strive for mastery,
While leaders seek supremacy.
But wrong can be replaced with good
When Jesus brings true brotherhood.

Above the noise and rushing throng,
Do you discern the Angel's song?
The joyful tidings sound so clear
To all who truly WANT to hear.
For still today God's Power flows,
His love so richly He bestows,
And He imparts abundant grace
To needy hearts who seek His Face.

Christmas can be time of joy
With peace that nothing can destroy
If Jesus rules each part of life,
For He has power o'er sin and strife.
Our Saviour always brings GOOD NEWS,
Except when men His love refuse.
If you will hear and then obey,
You'll know GOOD NEWS this Christmas Day.
