Love Manifested

(1 John 4:9) Our God loved man, the fruit of His Hand,
Rejoiced when he breathed at His command.
His rules, in Eden, must be understood
As being for Adam and Eve's own good.
So when those rules were disobeyed,
The consequences their hearts dismayed.
But His creation God still loved
Even though their actions He disapproved.

Because He gave man freedom of choice
To obey or disobey His voice,
Man had the option to rebel –
And suffer the consequences as well!
God's chosen people again and again
Caused Jehovah anger and pain,
Yet though they ignored His holy will,
God's love for them persisted still.

In many ways that love was revealed,
As prophets threatened, warned, appealed;
Till God, His ultimate sacrifice,
Sent His own Son, Our Saviour, Christ.
By His life and death He fully displayed
God's utter love for the race He had made.
Now we can be eternally blessed,
Through Jesus Christ - God's Love Manifest!
