Measureless Love

Have you tried to count grains of sand on the shore,
Or number the drops in the sea?
Can you figure the distance from star to star?
Or track space to infinity?

Can you measure the love for her newborn child
The heart of a mother contains?
Or tell when you've filled your lungs to the full,
How much oxygen remains?

Can you count the number of blades of grass,
Or each glistening drop of dew?
Can you weigh the whole of this universe?
No, none of these things can we do.

Neither can we in our finite way,
The love of God's heart assess.
We only know it reaches to all
And that it is measureless.

Without beginning, it has no end,
It is unrestricted and free.
The only limits upon His love
Are erected by you and me.
