The Gift That Matters

"It's not the gift that matter,"
We often hear it said,
"It is the thought behind it,"
To which we nod our head.

For each gift we are grateful,
Regardless of its size.
Because the motivation
Is foremost in our eyes.

Now when we think of Christmas
And why our Saviour came,
He IS the Gift that matters,
For Life is in His Name.

His sacrificial coming,
Prompted by His Father's Love,
Bought our soul's Salvation,
So we may dwell above.
